Description

The aim of this project is to develop and evaluate a video-based interactive e-learning package where students attend meetings of a university ethical committee in a simulated environment and have to make serial and parallel decisions throughout the meeting on accepting or rejecting project proposals in the field of bioscience. These decisions will influence the software to pose further dilemmas about each case according to the input by the student. Thus the student has a direct influence on the recommendation of the virtual committee by engaging with the software. The simulations will be based on three real life cases, and the e-package will include video clips with both actors and the actual people that were involved in the cases. This interactive teaching approach aims to overcome barriers traditional teaching approaches have when engaging students with ethical issues. The package will be evaluated in the lab and in the field by introducing it as a part of the teaching material at three partner UK universities.
