Developing new teaching and learning methods for enhancing the relevance of bioscience education at universities and in schools within local communities
DescriptionThe aim of the project was to develop additional cognitive and communication skills in 3rd year Biology Honours undergraduates by challenging them to work with school pupils in topical areas of modern bioscience, such as genetic engineering, GM foods and intensive agriculture. The schools participating in the project were selected from socially disadvantaged areas of the Welsh Valleys. The University of Glamorgan is conveniently located in the heart of this region and had existing links with a network of local schools in Valley communities. Outcomes and downloads
