Partners Dr Antony Gardner, Brunel University
Grant type Teaching Development
Completed November 2002

Description

A 'virtual positional cloning experiment' using a problem-based learning approach and delivered via a WWW-interface this project aims to enable students to establish the connection between disease pathology and altered molecular cellular components leading to the disease state. It uses a stepwise approach by accessing a number of molecular databases and retrieving information on genomic regions, candidate genes and proteins, gene mutations and resulting protein structure/function alterations.
