Description

Industrial (sandwich) placement years on bioscience undergraduate degree programmes play a critical role in the employability skills agenda. However, as the number of students engaging with sandwich years is in decline, despite the increased emphasis on work based learning, it is important that sandwich years are critically evaluated to determine whether they optimally support the contemporary learning agenda. This project will set out to map current examples of modes of learning support during the placement and in turn develop a practical in-placement teaching support resource pertinent to bioscience placement tutors, students and employers. This resource will be widely disseminated with the intention of directly developing in-placement learning and more generally creating debate within HEIs with the aim of further progressing innovation in in-placement learning.
