1. Purpose of this Statement

This statement tells you how the Centre for Bioscience may collect and process your personal data when you access this website.

2. Automated Collection of Personal Information

As with most other web servers, when you access these web pages certain information you provide will automatically be recorded by the Centre. This will include your IP address, browser type, and information relating to the page you last visited. This information is processed to estimate how much usage of the server is made by different categories of users and in the event of a breach of security may be used to aid detection. This data will not be associated with the personally identifiable data that you provide (under point 3, below).

3. Non-Automated Collection

Some sections of this website require you to provide personal data. This data will be stored electronically in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and will not be used for purposes other than those for which you have signed up. See point 4 below for details of third party access. Parts of the site requiring entry of personal details:

• Event registrations
• Wiki user group memberships
• Surveys, Competitions and Prize draws

4. Third Party Access

Your personal data that you have provided (under point 3, above) will not be sent to other third parties and will remain confidential, accessible only by those who have a legitimate need to know within the Centre.

Occasionally we co-organise events with other Subject Centres of the Higher Education Academy. If you register for one of these events on this web site your data may be shared with the co-organisers. You will always be made aware of this on the registration form.

Joining the Centre / Network

Sections of this website allow you to register your details and become a member of a network of bioscience learning and teaching professionals, receive the Centre for Bioscience Bulletin three times a year and regular updates on Centre news, funding, events and resources. Registering for this service means that your personal details will be securely stored electronically on the Higher Education Academy Contacts database. Your details will not be used for purposes other than those for which you have signed up.
