These lists do not imply that all species living within the Tireragan boundary fence have been identified. We are reasonably confident about the vertebrates (mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds) but relatively few detailed studies have been undertaken on the invertebrates. Lists will be extended as more species are identified.
We are reasonably confident that few plant species have been missed. Most of the confirmed identifications, particularly the lower plants, were obtained from detailed vegetation surveys undertaken by A.B.G. Averis and A.M. Averis in 1995 as part of an SNH contract (Scottish Natural Heritage contract no. SS/F2B/496).
