Information for Presenters

Please note, the information on this page relates to the 2009 Science Learning and Teaching Conference and is provided for information only.

PresentationPresentations

  • Oral Presentations – 15 minutes (not including time for questions)
  • Interactive presentations – 30 minutes
  • Workshops – 90 minutes
  • Posters - The poster boards are 1.2m x 1.8m in portrait, this will accommodate up to an A0 poster in portrait format

For workshops, interactive presentations and oral presentations, if you are using e.g. PowerPoint, the Conference organisers would like to collect a copy of your presentation for the online Conference report, your session chair will collect this at the end of the session or alternatively you can email presentations to sltc@leeds.ac.uk

Proceedings papers

All presenters are invited to submit a paper to be published on the online Conference proceedings, which will accompany the hardcopy proceedings containing the abstracts distributed at the Conference. See the Proceedings from the 2005 and 2007. Conferences for examples of papers from previous Science Learning and Teaching Conferences.

Guidelines for paper submission

At the start of the paper please include:

  • Title: (N.B. please capitalise only the first word of the title and any proper nouns and acronyms)
  • Type of presentation: Oral, Interactive Presentation, Workshop or Poster
  • Author information: Author(s), Department(s), Institution(s), Email (contact email for first author / contact author only)
  • Keywords: please provide a maximum of 6 keywords for your paper

General formatting:

Your paper should:

  • be a Microsoft Word document
  • be in Arial 11 pt font with headings in Arial 12 pt bold
  • be single spaced
  • have a blank line between paragraphs
  • use single quotation marks

Reference format:

Please reference your paper as described in the author guidelines for Bioscience Education - www.bioscience.heacademy.ac.uk/journal/submissions/authorins.aspx

Images, tables and graphs:

Please embed any figures and tables within the Word document to indicate the preferred layout.
Please provide legends above tables and figures. 
Figures and tables do not need to be sent with the paper as separate files, if any problems occur with tables or figures the Conference organisers will contact the first or contact author.

How to submit manuscripts

Authors are required to submit manuscripts electronically as an e-mail attachment to Katherine Clark – k.a.clark@leeds.ac.uk

The deadline for receipt of papers is: 17th September 2009
