University of Aberdeen.

This extensive suite of programs was developed for use by pre-clinical medical and science undergraduates in years 1 & 2. The programs were written using the MicroText Authoring system and will run on any IBM compatible PC from 8088 upwards. They consist of a wide range of problems covering all aspects of Physiology. The problems involve calculations or data interpretation and are presented to classes in a booklet form at the start of each course. The undergraduates are expected to work alone or in pairs during timetabled sessions and free time with varying levels of supervision, using textbooks and calculators.

A Problem Solving & Data handling Booklet contains instructions on accessing the software and an evaluation form that provides feedback on each problem and on the software package as a whole. Undergraduates are encouraged to use the programs for individual or group revision and consolidation of their lecture material. For some of the courses a compulsory problem solving/data handling question is set in the Degree Examination.
