Hosted Sites

The UK Centre for Bioscience hosts the following websites on behalf of others.

BioNet: The original BioNet Archive of Learning and Teaching materials produced in the mim-1990's as part of the TLTP initiative. It is a mirror of the original Leeds site. It provides a compendium of courseware and experience collected by BioNet members. Most of the resources are included here but some were links to external sites, which are not under our control.

Guidance for Students Project (GSP): This project website is a generic on-line learning resource that will assist students with the planning, execution and presentation of final year research projects. Comments about the site content will be welcomed and should be addressed to John Finn jfinn@johnstown.teagasc.ie
The web site attempts to address the main issues that confront research students and includes sections entitled: Dissertation assessment, Project Management, Literature review, Experimental Design, Data presentation and Compiling the report. The text is clear and comprehensible, with each section including an introduction, guidelines and examples and references to useful documents and websites.

Distant access to an ecological field experiment: The project aims to identify the effects of grazing and woodland management on the biodiversity of regenerating and mature broadleaf woodland by using large scale manipulative, experimental treatments. The experiments is being undertaken on land managed for conservation by Highland Renewal on the SW tip of the island of Mull (http://www.highlandrenewal.org/). Students have full access to experimental details and all results, via this web site. The field sites are also freely accessible by visiting groups.
