Enhancing Teaching and Learning in the Biosciences with Practical and Fieldwork Resources, Wednesday 31st March 2010, SB5 (provisional), 188 Tottenham Court Road, University College London, LondonFinding, adopting and adapting resources to support practical work can be difficult. Many projects produce outputs which may be suitable for use in other institutions in similar (or even quite different) situations but for some reason fail to get adopted as widely as they could be. Some resources are 'stand-alone' and are used as provided while other resources may be built with further flexibility opportunities in mind. This event is an opportunity to explore resources which support practical teaching and learn more about how they were produced and how to adopt or adapt them. Follow at #cfbPFRmore

An insight to alternative final year projects in Bioscience will be presented by way of case studies so project coordinators and supervisors can decide on the best way to maximise students' learning from research projects. Participants will be able to interact with speakers who have implemented different types of project and benefit from their experience. Issues arising may then be taken forward to the discussion sessionmore
Developing Laboratory Skills for the 21st Century, Graduate Centre, London Metropolitan University, Wednesday 19th May 2010This event will highlight the work on student practicals from both the Centre For Excellence in Active and Intractive Learning, Experiential Learning CETL and the UK Centre for Bioscience. The educational literature clearly supports learning by doing and the benefits of practical work to the majority of students are clear. At this event you will have have the opportunity to hear from key researchers in the area, learn about various project as well as discuss pertinent issues with colleagues.more
