Areas of Focus

As the national centre to support bioscience teaching, learning and assessment in higher education the Centre for Biosicence undertakes a range of activities (events, funding, publications, maintaining networks etc). However, the broad spread of disciplines classed as bioscience and size of the biosicence community mean that as a Centre we cannot do everything and have to focus our activities.

The areas of focus below reflect a mix of government priorities, The Higher Education Academy's core themes, as well as the Centre leading on relevant bioscience issues and taking advantage of available external funding. This list is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all the themes we are working on, but rather a list of topics or issues with a raised profile for 2009/2010.

Other Centre Resources

The Centre undertakes activities in a variety of theme areas, including assessment, e-learning and National Subject Profiles (Biochemistry and Microbiology), a review of the student experience in Microbiology and Biochemistry. To find out more about what other areas of work the Centre focuses on have a look at our Resources & Publication section of the web pages. Or, you can look at an A-Z Resource List for additional resources.
